Inktober and Road Trips

With Halloween come and gone, and winter quickly approaching I now have some time to talk about the past month or so.

Early October I traveled cross country with my friend Caroline and helped her move from Massachusetts to California. It was a great trip and I was glad I could finally go out west and see what the rest of the country is like. We were on a tight schedule but got to see the Grand Canyon. It was amazing. After seeing it I've heard a lot of people say that it looks fake, and I have to say that's exactly how I felt upon first seeing it. My mind just could not fully comprehend its majesty.

Along with road tripping this month I took a few attempts at Inktober. I wasn't able to get in as many drawings as I would have liked, certainly no where near 31, but I did enjoy participating this year. Most of the work I do is digital, and blessed by the CTRL+Z shortcut, yet it was nice to return to the crash free and driver-less medium of pen and paper.

Spooky times ahead

Haven't updated in a while, but I've been trying to keep busy!

Working on some boss monster concepts for a personal project. I love taking a single concept and expanding upon it, so this was a lot of fun to work on. It's primarily based off a caddisfly larvae, which builds a home out of detritus.

I've also been on a big IT kick with the new movie out. I drew this bit of fan art below for the IT fan art contest.

I'm also trying to get more practice in with my 3D work. Pennywise was a fun project to start with.

As the weather gets cooler and Halloween approaches I hope to get more spooky work done!

Bugs

Some arthropod studies to gear up for a small assignment I've given myself. I love drawing creepy creatures, and arthropods, as subjects, offer a great variety of colors, shapes, and sizes.

Kicking It Off

I've wanted to do an art blog for a while and will be posting most of my latest sketches, designs and illustrations here!

Starting off are some studies I've done recently:

The first being a color study using a photo I took of the the trail that runs parallel to Alewife brook.

Second, a master copy of John Singer Sargent's 'A Bedouin Arab'

I look forward to posting more on here in the near future.
